Rome, Piglio & the Amalfi Coast It’s one thing to go to Italy. It’s another to go to Italy with an Italian and meet his family and friends along the way! On this unique 9-night tour, we’ll not only explore Rome and the Amalfi Coast, but we’ll travel to Caffe Graziani’s Chef Giovanni’s hometown of Piglio, a tiny hamlet barely 40 miles southeast of the capital city. For 3 days, we will be treated like family, discovering an Italy virtually undiscovered by “turisti.” We’ll visit a local market, participate in a lively cooking demonstration, have a fabulous wine-tasting lunch, explore the ancient Etruscan villages of Piglio, Serrone, Anagni and Subiaco, and, of course, meet some of Giovanni’s extended family and friends! This truly intimate and unique experience will be one you will never forget.
The tour begins in Rome, where for three days we explore this vibrant city’s most magnificent sites. The seat of the great Roman Empire and of the papacy, Rome is replete with architectural and artistic masterpieces: the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, medieval churches, amphitheaters, fountains and piazzas.
The last three days will be spent along the beautiful Amalfi Coast, perhaps the best-known and dreamt-about region in all of Italy. We’ll visit the UNESCO site of Pompeii and then continue to the charming seaside town of Sorrento, our base for exploring the coast. With the Tyrrhenian Sea as a backdrop, we’ll visit Positano, Amalfi and even the enchanting island of Capri. Get ready to fall in love…
